DEKRA acquires majority stake in Spearhead

The international expert organization DEKRA has acquired a majority stake in Spearhead AG, a Swiss company. The company is a pioneer in digital solutions for claims management and offers insurers, fleet operators, and car dealerships systems for the fully digital processing of vehicle claims. DEKRA had held a minority stake since 2021; it has now increased its stake to 50.1%.

Our customers, especially in the insurance sector, are increasingly integrating our digital services into their processes. Here, we combine state-of-the-art technology with decades of appraisal experience. The result: customized solutions for tomorrow's claims processing."

At the heart of Spearhead's business model is digital processes for handling vehicle damage, starting with the fast and most accurate initial notification of damage ("First Notice of Loss"). With the help of a dynamic questionnaire, digital reporting tools, and, where possible, telematics data, it is possible to correctly classify vehicle damage within a very short time and initiate further action as quickly as possible. This is based on a vast database of real damage assessments and DEKRA damage reports.

As part of the majority acquisition, DEKRA is also strengthening the company's strategic management and appointing two additional members to Spearhead's Board of Directors. In addition to Guido Kutschera, who will remain Chairman of the Board of Directors, Friedemann Bausch, Managing Director of DEKRA Automobil GmbH, and Bernd Grüninger, Head of Expert Assessments and member of the Management Board of DEKRA Automobil GmbH, will also be represented on the board.
